In reaction to an email from a Parents’ Show listener, our show this week is on Tourettes Syndrome. We will be speaking about all dimensions to the issues and how to get the best possible support for your child.
What is Tourettes Syndrome? What are the symptoms? What age groups are affected? What is the impact of diet? Is it possible to cure Tourettes Syndrome and what treatment or therapies might help relieve symptoms?
We will be speaking to Suzanne Dobson of Tourettes Action and Dr Jeremy Stern, Senior Consultant Neurologist from the Tourette’s Clinic at St Georges hospital.

Exams - 20th June 2013

We're talking about helping teens cope during exam time on the show this week.  What strategies do parents use to help them get through this challenging time? What needs do children have? How do parents manage their own stress? Is it possible to tutor your child? Should you reward your child for doing well at exams and school grades or perhaps just for effort and attitude?

Helping us discuss this in the studio is local GP, Dr. Harriet Strain, mother of 4 teenagers and very experienced at supporting teenagers through public exams.

Premature Babies - 13th June 2013

This week on the Parents Show we are talking about babies being born prematurely. How do we deal with them being in hospital and what should we do when we bring our babies home? What are the effects of being born early on children? Can they still reach milestones at the same time as full term babies? What support is out there for parents to provide the best care for their babies?
We will be speaking to Dr Su Laurent, consultant paediatrician and author of Your Premature Baby. We will also be speaking to Zoe Chivers from Bliss, the UK charity working to provide the best possible care and support for all premature and sick babies and their families. And lastly we will be speaking to local mom Sally Ripley about her experience of her child being born prematurely.
